Am Freitag 18.September 2026 findet AT:NOG 2026/2 im Lakeside Spitz in Klagenfurt statt (genaue Adresse und Anreise-Information s.u.). Die Veranstaltungssprache ist bei Bedarf auf Englisch, sonst Deutsch (englische Unterlagen). Die Teilnahme ist kostenlos. Wir freuen uns diesmal über das Sponsoring von ALPSiX powered DE-CIX, die am Vormittag für den ALPSiX Launch schon beim Lakeside Spitz zu Gast sind. Für den ALPSiX Event ist eine gesonderte Anmeldung hier erforderlich.

Themenvorschläge und weitere Vorträge (auch für zukünftige AT:NOG Treffen nehmen wir gerne unter <pc> AT <atnog.at> entgegen.

Vorsicht: Wir wollen den einzelnen Programmpunkten so viel Zeit einräumen wie notwendig. Deswegen sind alle unten angegebenen Zeiten nur eine sehr grobe Schätzung. Unser Tipp: Rechtzeitig kommen, damit du nichts versäumst!

Latenz, Interconnection & regionale Autarkie

Zwei Themenblöcke, jeweils mit Impulsvortrag, fixem Panel und offener Diskussion. Kärnten dient als durchgängiges Fallbeispiel, in dem sich auch andere Bundesländer einordnen können.

Block 2.1: Infrastruktur — Fiber, Repeater, POPs & Interconnection
Wie ist ein Bundesland tatsächlich erschlossen und wie entstehen daraus die Wege des Internet-Traffics? Impuls am Beispiel Kärnten: Trassen, POPs, Repeater, Interconnection und gemessene Latenzen. Anschließend der Quervergleich: Wie sieht das in den übrigen Bundesländern aus, welche Abhängigkeiten bestehen und wie regional bzw. autark sind die Netze tatsächlich?

Block 2.2: Content, Applikationen & Cache-Systeme
Wo liegt der Content, der in den Regionen konsumiert wird? Welche CDN-, Cache- und Applikationssysteme sind regional präsent, welche nicht? Impuls am Beispiel Kärnten und anschließend die Diskussion: Was bedeutet die Verteilung von Content für Traffic-Wege, Latenz, Kapazität und Kosten – und was wäre nötig, um regionalen Traffic auch regional zu halten?

On Friday, 18 September 2026, AT:NOG 2026/2 will take place at the Lakeside Spitz in Klagenfurt (exact address and travel information below). The event language will be English if required, otherwise German (with English slides). Participation is free of charge. This time we are pleased to have sponsorship from DE-CIX, who will already be guests at the Lakeside Spitz that morning for the ALPSiX launch. Please note that the ALPSiX event requires separate registration here.

Latency, Interconnection & Regional Autonomy

Two thematic blocks, each consisting of an introductory talk, a fixed panel, and an open discussion. Carinthia serves as a recurring case study, allowing other Austrian regions to compare and position themselves accordingly.

Block 2.1: Infrastructure — Fiber, Repeaters, PoPs & Interconnection

How is a region actually connected, and how does this infrastructure shape Internet traffic paths? Using Carinthia as an example, the introductory talk will look at fiber routes, PoPs, repeaters, interconnection, and measured latency. This will be followed by a comparison with other Austrian regions: What does their infrastructure look like, what dependencies exist, and how regional or autonomous are their networks in practice?

Block 2.2: Content, Applications & Caching Systems

Where is the content consumed in the regions actually located? Which CDN, caching, and application systems have a regional presence, and which do not? Starting again with Carinthia as a case study, the discussion will explore what content distribution means for traffic paths, latency, capacity, and cost — and what would be required to keep regional traffic regional.
